Movement matters
Strength and finger power matter, but they are only part of climbing performance.
Footwork, body position, coordination, timing, route reading and decision-making often determine how effectively physical ability is expressed on the wall.
That is why movement analysis is a central part of my coaching. I use climbing footage, athlete feedback and targeted testing to identify what is really limiting performance.
Climbing, teaching and coaching
Climbing has been part of my life for nearly two decades — Over the years, my experience has grown from outdoor climbing and working as a rock climbing instructor and guide in Tenerife to structured coaching for climbers at different levels, from developing athletes to international competitors.
Today I work with youth competitors, advanced climbers and experienced adults. My coaching combines movement analysis, structured training, tactical preparation and practical climbing experience to identify what is really limiting performance — and turn that into training that transfers back to the wall.
How I coach
Effective coaching begins with understanding how a climber moves, thinks and performs.
I look at how someone moves, the decisions they make on the wall, how they respond to different climbing styles, and which physical or technical factors are actually limiting performance.
From there, we identify the main priorities and build the training around them. The aim is to work on what matters most — and then make sure that improvement transfers back to actual climbing.
UNDERSTAND → IDENTIFY → TRAIN → APPLY → PERFORM
I want climbers to understand why they are training something, what we are trying to change, and how to recognise that change on the wall. The goal is not only better performance, but also a more independent climber who understands their own climbing.
Coaching experience
My coaching work includes youth competitors, advanced adult climbers and athletes preparing for national and international competition. Over the years, I have helped athletes progress into national-team pathways and supported climbers competing at European cups.
Competition coaching has also shaped the way I work: preparation is not only about physical training, but also about movement, route reading, tactical decisions and performing under pressure.
